Software Submit is part of the tcpIQ/Sigma Solutions Group.  Sigma Solutions has a long history in software engineering, shareware authoring and Internet technologies.  It was when Sigma Solutions was attempting to promote its first commercial software product via the Internet that we realized that submitting software by hand was a terrible job.  It was a slow process, intensely time consuming and prone to corner cutting.  However the job was done properly and took well over two weeks.  We had estimated less than one week.

When it came time to promote our next product we took a smarter approach and investigated the various software submission tools.  In short, this was a total waste of time.  Despite their declarations of being efficient, quality products they inevitably fell very short of our own high standards.  The job needed to be done properly so we did it by hand - again.  Despite our experience with the promotion of the first product it again took over two weeks.  Sites had changed or closed and new ones had opened.  Also, PAD was being introduced.  This process was not in vain - it was during this time that seeds of Software Submit were planted.

Sigma Solutions' third commercial software product was promoted using a newly developed in-house tool that allowed us to remove the majority of the labor from the software submission process.  It allowed for 'revision before submission', logging of data and the flexibility to deal with web site pages that had changed their structure overnight.  It was when we were part way through promoting this product that we came across Shareware Tracker.  This is the one software submission tool that did everything we needed.  It was so good, that we opted to use it instead of our own in-house one. 

In the world of software submission, there is no such thing as a completely automated tool.  You still need to visit every page, set up login accounts, look over all the information before pressing submit and keep track of all this information.  With our knowledge of the shareware sites and Shareware Tracker’s help, we can now efficiently, accurately and quickly submit software to hundreds of sites and all the data is reviewed before we hit 'submit'. 

To add to our expertise, in November 2005 we formed a partnership with Accusolve to maintain the Shareware Tracker database of sites (for more information, see this forum thread).  This means we are able to ensure that the database of sites is as accurate and complete as possible, making our job of submitting your software even easier.
